A City of Motorhomes.

Day 6 - Tuesday, June 17

Our country is truly awesome!  We have really enjoyed seeing the different countrysides, landscapes, colors, and elevations; even the skies look different in the various areas we've been through.

Spot checks out the view from a roadside stop!
We are traveling in new state today--Wyoming.
Our destination is Gillette, Wyoming, for the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA)  annual international Convention.  Thousands of motor homes  will converge for several days of activities.

There are exhibits, vendors, seminars, tours, new motorhomes and products, dinners and entertainment, along with 2,300 motorhomes! This year is the 50th anniversary, so some special events are planned. Last year we attended  this convention which was held in Indianapolis. It was at last year's rally that we signed up for the Alaska trip, which then expanded into the Lundcruiser Adventure.

The logistics and organization of this event are unbelievable.  It is situated on the CAM-PLEX facility in Gillette, which is a huge event center covering 1100 acres. They have little cities set up with street signs and addresses so people can find their way back to their rv spot. Our address is
A-39, Second Street, Energy RV Park. I just think it is amusing to have addresses, but apparently it helps in case people want to hook up with friends or others they meet at the various events.

Upon arrival, motor homes are lined up in staging areas and you move from one place to another to get the rv's parked in the right area.  I've seen a lot of rv's at a NASCAR race, but that doesn't come close to this!  (Also, this is a LOT more organized than the Rv lot at a NASCAR race!:)  It would be very easy to get lost, but you just need to remember your address!

We are going to try to stay awake past dark tonight!  We finally changed our watches and clocks to the Mountain time zone so that we can physically and psychologically adjust too!

How exciting to keep up with your travels, and get a geography lesson too! I'm adding more places to my bucket list as I read your blog! How is Spot adjusting to the traveling?

What a great blog! Every day (and sometimes twice a day) I look forward to reading about the most recent Lundventures. Your titles are clever, the photos so good, and the details of the trip make Frommer's Guide look bland. The blog format is organized so well that it probably rivals the layout of the RV park in Gillette.
Wishing you even more "happy trails".

I'm really happy to see Spot made it. I was a bit distressed when I read the "prairie dog" blog and you said "luckily Spot wasn't with us". (In the back of my mind, I knew Jim wouldn't leave Spot behind)
