Happy Birthday to my twin!

Day 29, Thursday, July 11

Happy Birthday to my twin sister Carol!  This is a BIG birthday, and very exciting because, for the first time in our lives, she’s older than I am!!!  She often introduces me as her “older” sister—(I was born 7 minutes before she was)  But, today, she turned 60 in Indiana two hours before I turned 60 here in Canada!  So…happy birthday to my older twin sister, Carol-- Have a great day!

IMG_0827   I am wearing a birthday sweater in her honor today!         As my brother said—it’s sad to grow old, but nice to ripen!

IMG_0826-001We are in Lake Louise, a beautiful city in the heart of Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies.  The mountains are majestic.  They are so big and beautiful, and you can see deep layers of snow and glaciers along the mountainside.  Our campsite is surrounded by mountains, and we can see the Bow River from our front window and hear the water rushing by…very peaceful!

I got a wonderful surprise from my kids—they treated me to an adventure package for 2 (Jim is going, not Spot)  which includes a gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain in Banff, a Banff lake Cruise, and an unbelievable excursion on an Ice Explorer, out on to the Athabasca Glacier!  WOW….what a neat surprise, and a special adventure for a special birthday!  Thanks Tom & Heather, and Jen and Kurtis for such a thoughtful and awesome gift!  I get goosebumps just thinking about it.  We are headed to the gondola this morning.

Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are beautiful sights.  The 4 peaks at Moraine Lake are on Canada’s $20 bill.

The internet is scarce here, so postings will be fewer, and probably less often.  BUT, I promise to share the results of my adventure package…can’t wait!

Happy Birthday! Glad to hear that you're adapting to Canadian culture. It's not often that we get hear about "our world" from an American perspective. Sound's like you're going to have an amazing adventure in Banff and at the Columbia Icefields. Hope the weather stays nice for your travels thru the Canadian Rockies.
