A Day to Unwind

 Sunday, July 31, 2022

With the wedding over, we all took a pause to recover and many got ready for the trek home.  Some of the kids have school on Monday, so they packed up and took flights out on Sunday.  Others took advantage of one last day for touring...some went to Yellowstone, some to Idaho Falls, one family went horseback riding,  others did hikes at Taggert Lake and Jenny Lake.  But we stayed "home" and watched the Brickyard while recovering from the ngiht before.  It was strange to be watching an Indianapolis race on tv.   This was the 28th running of the Brickyard, and one of the very few we've missed.  Chase had a good run, and was running second with 3 laps to go, but was spun out and finished 16th.  (I think he missed his engineer!)

And, speaking of engineering, our ice maker went out shortly after we left home.  Knowing we have a long trip ahead of us, Jim ordered a part from Amazon to be delivered to the campground.  Then he found out the post office in Wilson Wyoming doesn't deliver to the campground address!  So...he found the post office, picked up the part, and got scolded by the postman for having something delivered to an address they don't service~-go figure!

The part wasn't exactly what was needed, but through some creative engineering, Jim got the thing working again.   Good news...We now have ice!

Later in the evening, we went to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, a famous Jackson Hole watering hole that has been around since 1937.  The bar stools are saddles, and the place is filled with western stuff.

We toasted farewell to a great week.  Even our virtual sister joined us to take part!

As we said our goodbyes, we were showered with "leftovers"...a case of beer, a bottle of vodka, fruit, bread, eggs, milk, crackers, cheese etc.   What a bonus!  We are well stocked for the rest of the week.
